Bengali actor and Trinamool Congress legislator Chiranjeet aka Dipak Chakraborty on Saturday contended that short dresses worn by women were one of the main reasons behind the increase in incidents of harassment of women in his constituency in the North 24 Parganas district.

I think you’ve misunderstood something very basic pertaining to common sense, Mr. Chakraborty: Skirts don’t cause sexual harassment; Sexual harassers cause sexual harassment. Blaming the victim is what cowards do.

Also, sugarcoating the harassment and abuse women face as ‘eve-teasing’ is another sign of your daftness.
